Thoughts: A brutal, stitched-up reminder that punk is resistance. This piece is a raw tribute to Dewayne Thomas, a Black skinhead who stood against neo-Nazi infiltration in Chicago’s punk scene, throwing fists and ideals at racism where it lived. The figure on the left—bundled in an American flag—forces the question: Whose country is this, really? The stitched marks in the background reconstruct the flag, pulling it apart and putting it back together—fractured, torn, but still holding. The texture is relentless—thick, shredded, violent in its movement—because punk isn’t pretty, and neither is the fight. The second figure, distorted and layered in fabric, is both a fighter and the aftermath, a symbol of carrying the weight of a movement that never should’ve been necessary. This isn’t nostalgia; it’s a warning. The same battle Dewayne fought in the ‘80s is still here. No racists, no fascists, no bullshit—just the real fight for unity.
